Anke BROCK (PhD)

Assistant Professor at ENAC Toulouse in the LII research team & Inria Researcher.

My research focuses on inclusive design of tools for personal and situational impairments.
I am an Assistant Professor at ENAC Toulouse, France, in Human-Computer Interaction, and an Inria Research Scientist (CR1). Prior to my career in academia I was an Engineer in Research & Development at Bosch (Hildesheim, Germany), where I have worked on car navigation systems and driver assistance systems.
I hold a PhD (2013) and a Master's Degree (2010) in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Toulouse, France. I also hold an engineering diploma in Information Technology from Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Stuttgart, Germany (2004).

Projects

I am passionate about applying user-centered design methods and inclusive design principles to a wide range of users. I design, develop and evaluate technologies for people with diverse impairments (sensory, cognitive and motor impairments), and technologies for users without disabilities experiencing impairments in specific situations (e.g., stress, high mental load, fatigue). My goal is also to investigate how this technology could further augment users without personal or situational impairments. Four categories: accessibility, accessibility in safety-critical systems, situational impairments in safety-critical systems and augmented humans

Teaching

I am co-reponsible for the Master in Human-Computer Interaction at ENAC, Toulouse (M2IHM).
Since 2010, I have taught around 550 hours of lectures, tutorials and practical work in computer science and HCI in different levels of higher education (Bachelor to Master level). I have taught in Universities (Toulouse and Bordeaux) and in engineering schools (ENAC, Upssitech, Enseirb Mat Méca, ENSC). I am currently teaching “HCI4All” (Accessibility / Inclusive Design) in the M2IHM, “Introduction to HCI” for the ENAC dual study program, ”Introduction to interactive python programming” for ENAC 1st year engineering students, and “Climate Fresk” to all levels of study at ENAC.
I also participated in the MOOC "Se former pour l'Informatique et Création Numérique" (Learning about Computer Science and Digital Creation) with an introductory lecture about HCI.
